House committee bill addresses federal concerns about 2012 permit-streamlining bill

A House committee voted Tuesday to introduce a committee bill that is intended to address Federal Emergency Management Agency concerns about legislation in 2012.
Last year, HB 503 prohibited state and local permitting agencies from requiring that other local, state or federal permits be issued first.
After the 2012 legislative session, FEMA raised concerns that the bill would place Florida communities at risk for losing federal flood insurance.
PCB EDTS 13-02 by the House Economic Development & Tourism Subcommittee would require local governments to attach disclaimers that all other state and federal permits must be obtained before development can begin in mapped flood hazard areas.
