Seminole County Alert: Tropical Storm Erika
Seminole County’s Office of Emergency Management is currently monitoring Tropical Storm Erika. It is still too soon to determine its impact on Seminole County. We ask residents to please be prepared, get a kit, review your family’s disaster plan and stay informed. For more information please visit www.prepareseminole.org.
Sandbags are available at Soldiers Creek Park (2400 S.R. 419, Longwood) from 3:30-7:00 p.m. on Friday Aug. 28, and from 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Sat. Aug. 29, and on Sunday Aug. 30 (times are TBD). Please be prepared with your own shovel. Sand and bags will be provided.
Altamonte Springs residents may also fill sandbags at Eastmonte Park (830 Magnolia Drive, Altamonte Springs, in the overflow parking area) and Westmonte Park (624 Bills Lane, near the recycle stations), 24 hours a day.
Longwood residents may fill sandbags at their Public Works Complex (907 East SR 434) beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 29.
Lake Mary residents may fill up to 10 sandbags until 5:00 p.m. on Friday Aug. 28th, and from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. on Monday Aug. 31st at 235 Rinehart Road.
